Donald Trump on Thursday denied doing business in Cuba following a report accusing the Republican nominee of violating the U.S. embargo on the island.
“I never did business in Cuba. There’s this guy who has very bad reputation as a reporter. You see what his record is, he wrote something about me in Cuba,” Trump said in an interview with NH1 broadcast on Thursday night. “No, I never did anything in Cuba. I never did a deal in Cuba.”
According to the Newsweek report, Trump’s casino company paid at least $68,000 in 1998 to a consulting firm that went to Cuba on his behalf to find business opportunities for the New York business mogul.
During the TV interview, he also said he wasn’t worried about Hillary Clinton bringing up his past marital history during the second presidential debate, if he brought up her husband’s sex scandals before and during his presidency.
“I have a very good history,” he said. “We’ll see whether or not we discuss it.”
