Although the marketing article this week, “The Top 7 Content Marketing Trends That Will Dominate 2016” was written a year ago as a predictor of popular marketing trends in 2016, the content is highly applicable today. One such example is of AI dominating content publishing. As of now, AI is able to write short form articles in a third of the time it would take a human to gather and write the same information. One downside to this, is that the content is strictly factual and lack any personality an actual person would bring to the article. In some cases this can be a good thing, although it would not be the case for any type of content outside of solely reported articles, which is something to keep in mind as this technology continues to develop.
As new technology is introduced to the market, many are worried that advanced technology can phase out the need for people to do the same job. As much as some believe AI will be taking over the world in the not so distant future, I believe we all still value the humanistic aspects and personalities people lend to marketing, which is something AI cannot do (at least not yet). As employers, we need to remember that while taking advantage of emerging technologies, we need to keep that human, personal aspect to marketing.
