My Thoughts on Education

Finland’s child centered school system is uniquely creative and effective in aiding children in growing academically and emotionally, offering them the best chance for their academic career. This system is frankly a breath of fresh air in the education system, something that is so different than the current educational system the U.S.

Some of their policies, as outlined in “I Have Seen the School of Tomorrow. It is Here Today in Finland,” include having the most passionate young teachers as part of their school system. The real question is: how easy is it to find such teachers? What happens if this passion wears off? At this point, the school would be in danger of mediocrity and stagnation taking over, which is a real threat to childhood educational growth. Close monitoring of this new system can allow it to be applied effectively in the American school system.
