My Thoughts on Education

HARRISBURG, PA — Hillary Clinton isn’t satisfied with the revelation that Donald Trump lost close to $1 billion in 1995, and likely avoided paying income tax for years afterward — she thinks that could just be the tip of the iceberg.

“There’s more in there,” she told reporters at a press conference following a rally in Harrisburg. “He’s unable to put out his tax returns because there’s more in there that demonstrate that he did business in a way that left wreckage behind him.”

For two days in a row, Clinton campaigned among white, working class voters in the Rust Belt — Monday in Ohio, and Tuesday in Pennsylvania — ripping Trump for not paying federal income taxes like many hard-working Americans. And she mocked him for being a failed businessman who actually managed to lose money while running a casino, where the house is expected to win.

The Democratic nominee on Tuesday also criticized Trump’s comments about post-traumatic stress disorder. At a veterans event in Virginia on Monday, Trump said PTSD occurs only in troops who “can’t handle” pressure while those who are “strong” can handle it.

“Some of the strongest men and women any of us will ever meet have experienced post traumatic stress,” Clinton told reporters during her press avail. His comments “give voice to a stigma that still exists — and lots of people who need help aren’t getting it.”

Clinton said that wounds “can be visible and invisible; most of us know that, but apparently Donald doesn’t.”

Her comments came hours ahead of the first vice presidential showdown between her running mate Tim Kaine and Trump’s running mate, Mike Pence. Clinton said that she hasn’t spoken directly to Kaine as he has prepared for his debate Tuesday night, but have been in touch by email. “I don’t want to interrupt his rhythm by calling,” she said. “He sent me a great assessment of my performance in the first debate.”
