What a time to be awake.
Eric Trump on Tuesday defended his father’s wee-hour Twitter spree, telling Fox News that it’s “great” that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was up at 3 a.m. but also admitting “that energy is sometimes a little bit of a downfall of his.”
“Listen, at least my father’s up at 3 o’clock in the morning, right? Which, you know, is great,” Trump said. “Maybe that energy is sometimes a little bit of a downfall of his, but he’s an amazing guy and he’ll be there to answer the call, you know, when things go bad. And, you know, I think people appreciate that.”
Hillary Clinton pilloried her Republican rival for his Friday morning tweetstorm with a retaliatory Twitter tirade of her own. “What kind of a man stays up all night to smear a woman with lies and conspiracy theories?” Clinton asked at one point. Clinton’s campaign also trolled the real estate mogul the following day by tweeting from her account at 3:20 a.m., the same time Trump began tweeting Friday.
Eric Trump, however, framed his father as a tireless worker who will work to make America great again.
“The one thing I’ll say about my father is he works harder than any human being alive,” he said. “He is a worker. He has worked tirelessly on this campaign, he has worked tirelessly his entire career and he’ll work tirelessly for America.”
