Donald Trump’s suggestion that Hillary Clinton has not been faithful to Bill Clinton is “indefensible,” CNN anchor Jake Tapper said Sunday.
Tapper made the comment at the end of a heated back and forth with former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani at the end of CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“It was an unhinged and wild accusation,” Tapper said. “I can understand why you can’t defend it because it’s indefensible.”
At a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday, Trump said Clinton’s “only loyalty is to her financial contributors and to herself.”
“I don’t even think she’s loyal to Bill, if you want to know the truth,” the Republican nominee said. “And really, folks, why should she be, why should she be.”
Giuliani said Sunday it was a “sarcastic remark.”
“After she called him a racist and misogynist, xenophobic … I think it’s fair game,” Giuliani said.
