Former Arkansas governor and Donald Trump supporter Mike Huckabee weighed in on Tuesday’s vice presidential debate, hitting both Tim Kaine’s overeager performance and Hillary Clinton’s wealth.
“Tim Kaine seems to think a VP serves the same function for a President as a yappy Chihuahua does for a socialite’s purse,” Huckabee tweeted early Wednesday morning.
His tweet followed several from the previous night, when he complained that the vice presidential debate moderator, Elaine Quijano, aided the Clinton campaign by also debating Indiana Governor and GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence. He also slammed Kaine for being “panned and canned.”
“I know Kaine and Pence. Expected more out of Kaine and less from Pence. Proud of Pence and surprised that Kaine has adopted HRC’s anger,” Huckabee tweeted Tuesday.
During the debate in Farmville, Virginia, Kaine aggressively questioned Pence on Trump’s previous statements and interrupted the Indiana governor dozens of times, at several points forcing the moderator to ask both debaters to refrain from talking over one another
For his part, Pence generally remained calm and on-message. He criticized Kaine and Hillary Clinton for running an “insult-driven campaign.”
