Donald Trump on Wednesday denied Tim Kaine’s accusation that he loves Russian President Vladimir Putin, telling a rally in Nevada that “I don’t love, I don’t hate” him.
During the Tuesday night vice presidential showdown, Kaine repeatedly attacked Trump and Mike Pence for the Republican nominee’s warm words for Putin, even after the Russian leader’s intrusions into Ukraine and widespread allegations that Moscow has hacked into U.S. government and political systems.
As Pence railed on the debate stage against a “newly emboldened, the aggression of Russia,” Kaine jumped in, claiming “You guys love Russia.”
And while Pence later in the debate called Putin a “small and bullying leader,” Trump on Wednesday said he hadn’t yet made up his mind about what type of relationship he’ll have with him.
“I don’t love, I don’t hate. We’ll see how it works. We’ll see. Maybe we’ll have a good relationship,” Trump said about Putin. “Maybe we’ll a horrible relationship. Maybe we’ll have a relationship right in the middle.”
