Hillary Clinton’s remark that half of Donald Trump’s supporters are in a “basket of deplorables” shows a campaign lacking in ideas, with only one strategy, according to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
“The fact is that this is a campaign that is just trying to run out the clock. She is devoid of any ideas,” the Trump surrogate said Monday night on Fox News’ “The Kelly File.” “And by the way, the worst part about it is she’s an elitist. 25 years in Washington, D.C. from Hillary Clinton. She’s a Washington, D.C. elitist who now believes anybody else is beneath her.”
When Kelly asked whether he found it “ironic” that Clinton made the remark about Trump’s supporters given her “Stronger Together” slogan, Christie responded, “Her whole campaign has become very ironic.”
“This is a person who is supposed to be, according to Barack Obama, the single most qualified person ever to run for president of the United States,” he continued. “I’m sure that Thomas Jefferson and George Washington are really spinning in their grave at that one.”
